Swore my credit union was ripping me off on wire fees, then I compared it to a broker
Last year I needed to wire $4,500 for a used truck I bought off a guy in Reno, and my credit union charged me $30 to send it. I was mad about it for weeks and told everyone the big banks were crooks. Then my brother in law, who trades stocks, showed me his brokerage charges $25 for the same wire and holds it a full business day longer. So the $30 was actually one of the cheaper options, which I did not expect at all. Anyone else get surprised that a broker ends up costing more than the bank on something simple like that?
