Realized my bank savings rate was a joke after seeing a broker quote

I kept my emergency fund in a big bank account earning 0.4% for like 3 years, thought that was just how it worked. Then my buddy in Austin showed me his brokerage account statement with 4.7% on the same type of money, blew my mind. I moved $12k over to a cash management account last month and the difference in monthly interest is almost $40. Anyone else wake up to this or am I late to the party?
