My local bank's CD rate was a joke, so I finally tried a brokerage
I kept rolling over a $15,000 CD at my local branch in Boise because it was easy. The teller offered me 2.1% last March, and I just accepted it out of habit. Then I checked what brokerages were offering on similar terms, and it was 4.6% for the same 12 months. I moved the money through a basic brokerage account, and honestly the extra $375 was worth the little bit of setup time. Has anyone else found that the convenience of a bank costs way more than they expected? How do you balance that with having to learn a new platform?

Did the extra cash make learning the new app feel worth it?
