My dad swore I should keep everything at one big bank, and that lasted about 4 months
My dad spent 30 years at the same bank in Toledo and when I got my first real paycheck he sat me down and gave me the one branch rule. Keep your checking, savings, and car note in one place, he says, it keeps things simple and they treat you better. So I did it for about 4 months until I tried to move $3,000 from savings to checking to cover a car repair and got hit with a $15 transfer fee and a two day hold. Then I called a broker my coworker kept pushing and moved the car note and a small investment account over, and the transfer cleared same day with no fee. The bank branch manager shrugged when I brought it up and said it was just how their system works. Did your bank pull something like this on you, or am I just bad at picking branches?
