My broker's office had a hamster in the ceiling and it derailed my whole mortgage talk
I was in a meeting at my broker's place in Denver, trying to finalize a rate for my first house. Right as he said '4.8 percent', this scratching noise started above the drop ceiling tiles. A HAMSTER fell through a tile gap and landed on his keyboard, sending numbers flying. We spent the next hour trying to catch it with a trash can while he yelled about his spreadsheet. I ended up signing the papers with a 5.1 percent rate because he was too frazzled to argue. Has a pet ever crashed YOUR important money talk?

Honestly I used to roll my eyes at people saying pets mess up their work stuff. Then my dog got spooked by a thunderstorm mid call and jumped into my lap, knocking my whole laptop off the desk. I was stuck there holding a wet, shaking lab while my client just stared at the ceiling on zoom like nothing happened. That raccoon story though, that's next level chaos. I can just picture you pretending everything's fine while there's a whole WWE match happening under the floorboards. Sometimes you gotta admit the universe just wants you to fail gracefully.

Ever have a squirrel get into your attic during a work call? Mine chewed through a cable and cut my internet right as I was about to close a deal.

Had a raccoon set up a nursery in my crawlspace last spring. The noise during a client video call sounded like a tiny wrestling match happening right under my feet. I just kept smiling and nodding, hoping they couldn't hear the squeaking over my presentation.
