Got burned paying $75 for a wire transfer when a broker draft cost $15
Was moving cash between my bank and my brokerage to catch a CD rate before it expired. Bank wanted $75 for a same day wire and the teller acted like that was normal. Walked out, called my broker, they cut me a draft for $15 and I drove it over. Same day, same result, saved $60. Anyone else found cheaper transfer tricks between institutions?

That teller probably gets a commission pushing wires, I swear. Reminds me of when I tried to close an old savings account and they hit me with a $25 "dormant account fee" unless I kept $500 in it. I just moved all but $5 out and let them eat the fee for a year out of spite. Not as useful as your draft trick, but it felt good. You ever get stuck paying those stupid maintenance fees just to keep an account open?
