Crazy wait times at my local Chase branch made me dig into this whole broker thing
Stopped by the Chase on 5th Avenue last Tuesday to sort out a wire transfer mixup and stood in line for 47 minutes. The teller was nice but kept having to call a manager for basic stuff, which got me wondering if I should just move everything to Fidelity or Schwab. I get that a broker gives me better rates on cash and lets me buy bonds directly, but there's something about walking into a real branch when my card gets flagged on vacation. My buddy swears he saved $1,200 in fees last year by going full broker, but he also panicked during that August dip and sold low. Has anyone else split the difference, like keeping a checking account at a brick and mortar while doing investments elsewhere? How do you handle the moments where you actually need a human in person?
