Back when I walked into a Schwab office in 2019
Three years ago I strolled into a Charles Schwab branch in Austin to open an account, and the rep spent 20 minutes trying to sell me their managed portfolios. Last week I did the same thing online and had an account set up in 8 minutes flat with no sales pitch. Has anybody else noticed the in-person experience getting way more pushy while the online side gets simpler?

Oh please, a whole 20 minute sales pitch, call the press.

That actually makes total sense. They probably figure they can squeeze more fees out of people who go in person, while the online crowd just wants to get it done with no hassle. Kinda makes you wonder if they're training the branch staff to be salespeople first and helpers second.
