A branch manager in Cleveland showed me why they beat my online broker for one thing
Ngl, I've been all about my discount broker for years. Cheap trades, slick app, whatever. But last month I had to transfer an inherited IRA and hit a wall with their support line. 45 minutes on hold, then a ticket that went nowhere for 3 days. I walked into a local bank branch half frustrated, and the manager there sat with me for 20 minutes, pulled the forms, walked me through the whole transfer. He even called their back office while I waited. The fee was $75, but my time was worth more than that. Has anyone else switched to a bank just for the human touch on messy accounts?

This whole thing is just how everything's going now, not just banking... you call a company and get a robot, but walk into a store and suddenly a real person can actually fix it. We've traded so much convenience for this wall of automation, and then we're surprised when the old way still works better for the complicated stuff. It's like we forgot that a human being can just pick up the phone and sort a problem in minutes, not days.
