Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, $80 is annoying for sure, but vanilla extract isn't life or death. You probably still bought vanilla flavoring, just not the fancy bean kind. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people get way too caught up in having the exact right brand. Unless you're baking for a contest or something, who's really going to notice the difference? Idk, I'd just use it and move on, it's not like it ruined your whole kitchen.

See, I gotta push back on that. There's a pretty big difference between a fake vanilla and the real deal, especially if you're making something like a custard or buttercream where vanilla is the main flavor. Splenda and sugar are both sweet, but you'd be mad if you paid for real sugar and got Splenda instead, right? $80 is a lot to spend on something that's just pretending to be what it says on the label. Pass it off as the real thing in a gift or for a birthday cake and people who care about food will definitely notice. It's not about being a snob, it's about getting what you paid for.
