Overheard a baker at the Eugene farmers market say 'a fail is just a recipe you haven't finished writing yet' and it totally flipped how I see my brick-like sourdough from last month.

I used to just toss my disasters, but now I'm keeping a notebook to log every dense loaf and sunken cake, asking what specific step do you guys always write down after something goes wrong?

Man, that baker nailed it. I see this everywhere now, like my neighbor who keeps a log of every plant that dies in his garden. It turns a dead end into just another step you can learn from.

Honestly, a log for dead plants? Tbh that feels like taking gardening way too seriously. It's just a hobby, not a science project.
