My sourdough starter survived a 9 day power outage thanks to a cooler trick
We lost power for 9 days back in March, and I thought my 8 month old starter was a goner. I packed it in a cheap styrofoam cooler with a few plastic bottles of hot water, swapping them out twice a day. It stayed around 70 degrees the whole time, and when the lights came back, it bubbled up after one feed. Has anyone else kept a starter alive through a long outage, or do you just start over?
