My sister told me to add a pinch of salt to my sweet fillings and I thought she was nuts
She said it would make the fruit flavor in my cherry pie pop more, but I figured it would just taste salty. I tried it last night with my usual recipe from the Betty Crocker book, and wow, she was right. The cherries tasted way brighter and the whole thing just balanced better. Anyone else have a weird tip like that that actually worked?

Totally! It's funny how the best tricks seem wrong at first. I read that a tiny bit of coffee can make chocolate taste richer too, it's all about those small contrasts. Makes you wonder what other cooking rules we're getting wrong, right?

Honestly, do we really need to overthink cooking that much?

Salt in sweet recipes is my favorite example of that.
