My grandma said my pie crust was 'too perfect' and it made me stop trying so hard
She told me her best pies always had a few cracks and a little extra flour on the bottom. I realized I've been stressing over every tiny flaw instead of just enjoying the baking. Has anyone else had a 'fail' that turned out to be a win?

Remember the best meals are eaten, not photographed.

Funny how the wisest advice often comes from grandmas. I used to get so upset if my bread didn't have that perfect, smooth top. Then one batch came out looking all lumpy and weird. That was the softest, best-tasting loaf I ever made. The quest for a flawless look was actually making the food worse. Now I aim for "good enough" and the results are always better, and the whole process is a lot more fun.

That's exactly it though, right? Sarah mentioned the lumpy bread being softer and that's such a good point. Was it really that the flaws made the texture better, or did you actually change something else without realizing it? Like maybe you handled the dough less or baked it at a slightly different temp? I'm curious if the "failure" forced you to relax in a way that just naturally improved the end result.
