Can we talk about how people measure flour for cookies?

I kept getting flat, greasy cookies until my neighbor in apartment 4B showed me to spoon flour into the cup and level it, not scoop. Anyone else have a simple trick that fixed a basic fail?

Doesn't the type of flour matter too though? I switched to bread flour for chocolate chip cookies and they came out way chewier, never going back to all purpose for those.

Spoon and level" is a total game changer for cookie texture.

Wait, you used to just scoop with the cup, right? I did that for years and my cookies were always a little off. Spooning the flour in and leveling it made them way more consistent.
