Showerthought: my oven died mid rush on a 200 cupcake wedding order and I finished them in a toaster oven
Two Saturdays ago I had a wedding order for 200 cupcakes and my main oven just quit at 7am. The control board fried, no heat at all. I stood there for a second, then pulled out the old toaster oven from the garage and started rotating trays 6 at a time. It took 4 hours instead of 90 minutes and I was sweating bullets the whole time. The bride never knew, but my back still hurts from leaning over that little thing. What really got me was the cupcakes actually came out more even than my big oven ever does. Now I am half tempted to keep using it for small batches. Has anyone else had a piece of gear die at the worst possible time and end up liking the backup better?
