Did you realize you were teaching more than cooking? That unbroken yolk is nice, but the real skill is knowing when to step back. Messy kitchens make better memories anyway.

Oh man, you're so right, @viola_stone65. I burnt cookies with my niece last week and we just laughed the whole time. I mean, it's definitely more fun when you don't stress over the mess.

Getting things right has its own joy. My nephew and I spent an afternoon baking scones, carefully following each step. The pride on his face when they came out golden and flaky was worth the extra effort. A bit of structure doesn't have to kill the fun.
