I saw the weirdest cake in a bakery window in Portland yesterday
I was walking past this little shop called 'Sugar Rush' and stopped to look at their display. In the middle of all the normal cupcakes and loaves, there was a cake shaped like a giant, perfect avocado. I mean, it was green fondant with a pit and everything. I went inside and asked about it, and the baker said it was a special order for a 'millennial housewarming party'. She said she spent 4 hours just getting the color right. It looked so real, I almost tried to pick it up. Has anyone else had to make a cake that looks like something it's definitely not?

Oh man, my friend once had to make a cake that looked exactly like a brick of cheddar cheese. It was for a retirement party for a guy who just loved cheese, I guess. The worst part was she said it smelled weirdly savory even though it was sweet.

Actually that savory smell sounds like a good thing. It shows the cake really sold the cheese illusion. If it looked like cheddar but smelled like vanilla, the surprise when you taste it wouldn't be as fun. That weird mix of senses is the whole point of a novelty cake, right?

Wait, it SMELLED savory? That's messed up. How does a sweet cake even get a cheese smell. Your friend must have used some wild flavoring. I'd be so confused cutting into something that looks like cheddar but smells like dessert. Sounds like a prank waiting to happen.
