Artisan bread proofing baskets seemed like a gimmick until I tried one
I always just used a bowl and towel for my sourdough, but grabbed a banneton on sale last month. The crust came out way crisper and the shape held better. Anyone else find a tool they thought was overhyped that actually works?

Oh, bannetons don't actually make the crust crispier, that's more about steam and oven temp.

Had a friend who swore her bread got way better after she started spraying water inside the oven right when she put the loaf in. She called it her "steam hack" and it did make a big difference on the crust. The banneton just gave her pretty rings on the bread.
