The 30 second rule for taking a bad first take back
Last month I was arguing with a buddy about a band we both like and I dug my heels in on something I knew was wrong just to look cool. He pulled up a live clip on his phone and proved me dead wrong in like 30 seconds. That whole week I kept trying to justify my take instead of just admitting it. Finally I tried saying 'okay I was wrong' out loud and it took less than a minute and the convo got way better. Has anyone else found that confessing a bad take fast actually makes you look less dumb than defending it?

Weight off your shoulders" until you're the one who's actually right and they never admit it back.

Wait, is it just me or does admitting you're wrong actually feel like a weight off your shoulders? I did the exact same thing last week with my cousin about a movie plot, and once I said "my bad," we ended up laughing about it instead of arguing.
