My coworker's blunt critique made me redo my entire data sheet
At my job in Columbus, I spent two days building a spreadsheet for a client report. My coworker glanced at it and said, 'This looks pretty, but I can't find the numbers fast enough.' She was right, I had buried the key figures under colors and extra tabs. I stripped it down to one clean page with the totals up top, and now the client actually reads it. Has anyone else had a similar moment where a short comment beat a whole training session?

Huh, I kind of see it the other way. Two days of work is not nothing, and one person saying they can't find the numbers fast doesn't always mean the sheet was bad. Sometimes the colors and tabs are there for a reason, like different clients or time periods, and stripping it all down to one page just hides stuff other people needed. I've watched folks gut a report because one loud voice complained, then find out later the boss liked the detail. So yeah, short feedback can be useful, but I would not treat every blunt comment as a free training session. Maybe ask a couple more people before you blow up two days of work.
