I used to mock meal prep containers until the work fridge incident

I always thought meal prep was for gym bros and people with zero spontaneity. Last Tuesday at my office in Portland, my leftover pasta leaked all over the shared fridge shelf. Someone left a passive-aggressive note on my Tupperware saying 'clean this up or bring a bento box.' I bought a set of 3 compartment containers for $22 and suddenly my lunches stopped being a disaster. Now I actually prep on Sundays because I got tired of eating sad gas station sandwiches. Has anyone else had a food storage wake-up call that made them start meal prepping?

The note about 'clean this up or bring a bento box' hit me hard because I was the person leaving the mess, just not with pasta. I used to think meal prep was for people who planned their whole lives out, but after my third week of sad desk salads going bad by Tuesday, I caved and bought those same cheap 3 compartment containers. Now I spend like an hour on Sunday roasting veggies and rice, and it honestly feels less like a chore and more like a safety net for my week. I still don't meal prep every single meal, but having those containers in the fridge means I stop buying $11 sandwiches which is worth the upfront hassle.
