I think tipping on takeout is a scam and I stopped doing it 8 months ago

I grabbed a $14 burrito from a spot on Mission Street in SF back in March and the screen flipped to a tip page with 20% as the first option. I hit no tip and the cashier gave me a look like I kicked her dog. My take is that if I stand up to get my own food and throw my own trash away, there is no table service to tip for. Am I wrong here or did we all just get bullied into this by the screens?
