I compared a $40 angle grinder to my old corded one and the cheap one actually won
So last month my 15 year old corded grinder finally died on me while I was cutting some rebar at a job in Plano, and I figured I would grab a cheap $40 cordless one off the shelf just to get through the day. I fully expected it to be junk and honestly I was ready to hate it. But here is my bad take: the cheap cordless one cut cleaner and faster than my old reliable ever did, and I am still weirdly annoyed about it. I think the difference was the blade that came with it, plus not dragging a cord around on a ladder all afternoon. I know that sounds dumb but it made the work way less of a fight, and I got the whole run done in about half the time I planned for. Now I am sitting here second guessing every tool I have refused to replace for 10 years, and my old grinder is in the truck bed collecting dust. Am I the only one who got shown up by a cheap tool they bought just to survive one day?
