TIL a cheap trick to stop my hens from eating their own eggs

Had a real problem with egg eating in my flock of six. Tried the usual stuff, more nest box straw, nothing worked. Saw a tip online about using fake ceramic eggs. Bought a pack of four for about $12. Put them in the boxes, and after a few pecks, the girls gave up. Anyone else try something like this with good results?

Ever notice how the best fixes are just making something annoying to do? Like putting a rubber band on the fridge handle to stop mindless snacking, or those spiky mats to keep cats off the counter. The fake egg trick works on the same idea. It's not about stopping the hen, it's about making the reward (a tasty egg) not worth the bother (pecking a hard, fake thing). We're all just trying to outsmart simple urges, I guess.
