PSA: My coop door automation project turned into a two month mess
I bought a solar powered door kit back in April thinking it would be a weekend install, but the motor kept jamming on our uneven track. It took me six different adjustments, a new rail from the hardware store, and finally just building a whole new level frame from scratch to get it working right last week. Anyone else have a 'simple' upgrade that ate up your whole spring?

Sounds about right for anything labeled a weekend project.

Ever notice how these kits never account for actual WEATHER? The instructions act like your coop sits in a perfect lab, not a place where wood swells and dirt shifts. That's the real weekend killer right there.

Read a post the other day from a guy who spent a whole weekend shimming his kit coop because the predrilled holes didn't line up after a humid week. Made me think twice about even trying one.
