My old incubator finally gave up mid-hatch, 18 eggs in the balance
Yesterday my trusty 2009 Brinsea incubator just stopped heating about 48 hours before my 18 eggs were due. The temp had been steady all week, then suddenly it dropped to 88 and the alarm went off, woke me up at 3am. I grabbed a spare heat lamp and a cardboard box as a quick brooder, set it up in the laundry room, and got the temp back to 99.5 within an hour. So far 11 have hatched, but has anyone else dealt with a mid-hatch equipment failure and how did you rig a backup?
