My neighbor's coop has a solid floor, and I finally convinced him to switch to hardware cloth after his third case of bumblefoot
He thought deep bedding was enough, but moisture and bacteria get trapped underneath (I learned that from a vet in Tacoma). Has anyone else had to gently correct a friend's setup for the flock's health?

Ever try the "show, don't tell" method?

Glad you got through to him, that's a solid win for his flock. I've seen so many people swear by deep bedding on solid floors and it's just a ticking time bomb for foot issues. Honestly, the moisture buildup is insane once you lift up that top dry layer. It's worth checking the run floor too if it gets muddy, sometimes the problems start out there before they even go inside.
