My neighbor laughed at my $8 motion light for the coop, then a possum proved him wrong
Last month my neighbor Dale watched me screw a cheap solar motion light onto the coop door and he just shook his head and said I was wasting my money on a toy. I figured it was a long shot too, since the thing cost $8 at the hardware store in Waxahachie and the box looked like it had been sitting there since 2019. For the first week nothing happened and I was ready to eat crow. Then around 2 in the morning the light kicked on and lit up a possum sitting on the ramp, and the girls started raising a racket. That ruckus woke me up and I ran out in my socks with a broom and that possum took off fast. Since then it has tripped three more times, all real critters and no false alarms from wind or bugs. Dale came over Sunday and asked where I got it, so I guess the toy works. Has anyone else had good luck with the dirt cheap solar lights, or did I just get lucky with this one?
