I used to throw out my chickens' eggshells until a neighbor in Reno showed me her compost pile
I always figured eggshells were junk. Just tossed them in the trash for two years. My neighbor Kathy in Reno caught me doing it last month and looked at me like I was crazy. She said she crushes them up and feeds them back to her hens, and her egg count went from 4 a day to 6 in about three weeks. I tried it with my six girls and sure enough, week two I got 5 eggs instead of my usual 3. I guess the calcium really does something. Anyone else do this or is it just a Reno thing?
