Finally caved and got a treadmill for my coop, game changer for winter

I used to think keeping chickens inside during a Michigan January was cruel, so I let them free range in the snow. They hated it. Frostbitten combs, miserable clucking, eggs basically stopped. A buddy in Traverse City told me he runs an old treadmill in his coop with a low incline and throws scratch feed on the belt. I thought he was nuts. Tried it last week with a $50 used one from Facebook Marketplace. They figured it out in two days, now they take turns walking on it for like 20 minutes. Eggs are back to normal and they look way happier. Anyone else tried this or am I running a weird chicken gym?
