The $150 paver mistake that made my patio slope the wrong way
Last month I laid 200 square feet of pavers in my backyard and didn't check the fall line before setting the base. Rained on Saturday and water pooled right against the house foundation. Had to pull up 40 pavers, re-grade the sand, and relay them. Total cost ran about $150 extra in sand and my whole Sunday. Anybody else learn drainage the hard way or do you always laser level first?

Last time I did a paver job my neighbor came over to check the slope and told me it looked fine, then his dog peed on three of the blocks before they even set. I re-leveled those three with a rubber mallet and it messed up the whole row. Sold the house two years later hoping the new owners wouldn't have a rainy spring.
