Saw a guy in Phoenix build a freestanding pergola with zero concrete footings, just stakes
Was walking my dog past a house near 7th Ave and the guy was putting up a 12x12 cedar pergola and the posts were just sitting on these metal spike things pounded into dirt. I asked him about wind and he said he's done 6 this way and not one has moved. Is that actually fine in a place where we get those dust storm gusts, or is he rolling the dice?
