Question about mixing paver bases, river rock vs crushed stone in Phoenix heat
I built a 12x14 patio last fall using river rock as the base because it was cheaper at the local yard. Six months later the pavers are shifting and it feels like walking on a waterbed. My neighbor used crushed limestone screenings for his 8x10 fire pit pad and his stuff is rock solid after two summers. Is river rock just a bad idea for desert soil or did I do something wrong with the compaction? Anyone else regret their base choice this bad?
