PSA: that one Saturday my fence gate build went right on the first try
Last Saturday I finally hung the 6 foot cedar gate on my wood shop and it closed smooth on the first swing, no shims or swearing. The trick was a $12 strap hinge jig I grabbed at the Mesquite flea market, plus setting the posts in concrete and letting them cure a full 48 hours instead of rushing it. My neighbor wandered over with a beer and said it looked better than the one he paid $900 for. Ended up finishing at 3pm with daylight to spare, which never happens. Anyone else have a build day where the cheap tool saves you and the expensive one just sits there?
