My wooden planter box rotted out after 2 seasons in Omaha
Built a cedar planter box in 2022 and it fully fell apart last month because I used untreated wood and didn't line the inside with anything. Has anyone had luck with a specific plastic liner or waterproof coating that holds up to wet soil?

Flex seal would've bought you at least another season or two. Plasti dip makes a spray on rubber coating that's supposed to be food grade safe too. Omaha winters and wet soil are brutal on wood regardless though. Pond liner material from the hardware store cut to shape and stapled in works better than any paint or spray.

Staple pond liner to my raised beds? That's basically giving my garden a full on raincoat and telling it to take a hike. I half expected you to suggest wrapping them in bubble wrap and tucking them in with a bedtime story. At this point I'm convinced my planter boxes need a will and a lawyer more than they need paint.
