My shed door took 7 hours because the frame was off by a quarter inch

I hung the door, it stuck, I planed it, it stuck the other way, and I made three trips to the hardware store in Salem for shims. Turned out the whole frame was out of square and I should have checked that first, so what's your go to trick for squaring up a crooked opening?
