Just read that pressure treated lumber can shrink up to half an inch after it dries and I wish I knew that before I built my deck last summer
Found it in a Wood magazine article from 2019 while looking up why my gaps were suddenly showing, has anyone else had their 2x6s shrink way more than they expected on a completed build?

Man I always thought that wood was done shrinking after a few weeks, total eye opener when I saw my own deck doing the same thing. Had some gaps show up that I blamed on bad lumber at first, then a buddy who builds fences told me it can take months for pressure treated stuff to fully dry. Half an inch is insane though, I might have sized my boards a bit different if I knew that going in. Definitely makes me want to check the moisture content before my next project.

Half inch over what size board length though? Was that like a 16 footer or just a standard 8 foot piece?
