I finally figured out why my raised beds kept bowing out after 2 seasons

Saw a guy at the Woodinville dump loading cedar 2x10s and he asked why I was screwing boards straight into the end grain. Turns out my corner posts needed to be set 6 inches deeper so the frost wasn't heaving them sideways every February. Anyone else in colder zones run into this or am I just stubborn?
