Hot take: my paver patio base sunk 3 inches after one wet spring in Spokane

I built a 12x14 paver patio behind my garage back in April and by June half the corners were dipping bad enough to trip over. Turns out I skipped the plate compactor on the base because I was rushing to beat the rain, and now I'm pulling up 200 square feet of pavers to do it over. What's your go-to depth for class 5 base around here, 4 inches or do you go deeper?
