Dug a 3 foot koi pond in my San Antonio yard last month, now the raccoons treat it like a buffet
Finished the liner and rock edge on a Saturday, felt like a genius for about 6 hours. By Monday morning 4 of my 6 goldfish were gone and the pump was clogged with mud. Neighbor Ray says a motion sprinkler worked at his place in Converse. What actually keeps raccoons off a small pond, because I am not digging this thing twice.
Man, I feel your pain, lost three koi to coons my first month too (they even flipped my rocks around like they were looking for something). What finally worked for me was a cheap solar motion light plus stringing fishing line about 8 inches above the water across the pond, since they hate how it feels when they try to lean in and scoop. Haven't lost a fish since March, so skip the fancy gadgets and try the line trick first.
