Cut my post hole digging time in half after a guy at the rental counter in Boise told me to run the auger wide open
Spent 4 hours on 6 holes for a fence last season because I was babying the auger at half throttle, thinking slow and steady was safer. Guy at the rental place in Boise heard me complaining and said run it wide open and let the bit eat, just hang on. Did 8 holes in 90 minutes on Saturday and my back feels way better. Only thing is it wants to walk on you if you hit a root. Anyone else run theirs full tilt or am I asking for a twisted wrist?
Man, this is the story of my life with tools. Same thing happened to me with a chainsaw, I was feathering the trigger scared of kickback and it took forever and bogged down in every cut. Turns out a two stroke wants to scream, and the guys who know what they're doing just let it rip and keep two hands locked on. I've started noticing it everywhere, we baby stuff that was built to run hard, then wonder why the job takes all day. The kickback on a root is real though, so keep your feet wide and don't fight it, just steer.
