A guy at the Fort Worth lumber yard said I'd waste $60 on deck boards if I skipped this step
He told me to lay every single board out in the sun for 3 days before screwing anything down, and I figured that was nonsense until my neighbor's untreated boards cupped 4 months after he built his. Do you all let your decking sit before install, or am I just being paranoid?

Three days in Texas sun sounds like a great way to turn $60 of deck boards into $60 of banana peels. I let mine sit for like a day just to dry out a bit, but 3 days feels like the lumber yard guy just wanted you out of his hair. Your neighbor's cupping is real though, that part I believe.
