Spent $120 on a lightweight backpacking tent from a no-name brand on AliExpress and it leaked like crazy on day 2 of a 5 day trip on the Appalachian Trail

I figured I'd save some cash for a trip last month, so I ordered this cheap tent that was only 2.5 pounds. It looked fine setting up in my backyard, but then it rained hard near the Virginia section and water just seeped through the floor. My sleeping bag was soaked by morning and I had to cut the trip short. Anyone else tried those ultra budget tents and had a bad experience?

Did you check the seam tape before you took it out? I bought a similar cheap tent off Amazon a few years back and the seams weren't sealed at all, just loose threads. Water came right through the stitching on the floor. Took me two days to dry out my gear in a hostel.

Wait actually seam tape isn't always the issue if the floor itself is seeping water.
