I finally understood what 'leave no trace' really meant after a guy I met on the Eagle Rock Loop in 2012 packed out a piece of foil I'd dropped without saying a word.

He just picked it up, put it in his own trash bag, and gave me a small nod, and that quiet lesson about personal responsibility on the trail has stuck with me more than any sign or rule ever has.

Man, that's solid. Reminds me of a time I saw someone pack out a whole busted camp chair someone else left. Just strapped it to their pack.

That's the real deal right there. Takes a special kind of person to haul out someone else's junk. Good on them.
