A guy at the trailhead said he did the whole Lost Coast in 4 days

I was getting water at the Mattole River trailhead last week and heard a guy telling his friend he finished the whole 25 mile stretch in 4 days. He said he just kept moving and didn't stop to camp early. It made me think I always plan for way more time than I need. I usually do that section in 5 or 6 days with lots of long breaks. Maybe I'm overthinking my pace and could push a bit more on my next trip. Has anyone else cut down their planned time on a route and been happy with it?

That "overthinking my pace" thing is everywhere now.

Did you try just leaving the smartwatch at home for a week or two? I did that and it was brutal at first (I kept checking my empty wrist) but it totally reset my brain. Now I only look at pace once a mile or so, just to make sure I'm not completely bombing.

My running app showed 47 different pace alerts last week. I got so stuck in the data I forgot to just run. What finally helped, henderson.mason, was setting my watch to only show total time. No splits, no current pace, just the clock. Suddenly I was just moving by feel again, not trying to hit some exact number every single minute. The noise in my head completely stopped.
