A guy at REI in Denver told me to skip the Colorado Trail segments 22 to 24 and I can't stop thinking about it

I was buying a bear can and he said those sections are just road walks and blown-down trees, and he would not tell me what to do instead. Has anyone actually hiked the CT around there and is he right?
