Visited my in-laws in Cleveland and noticed their kitchen rule

My wife's parents have this unspoken rule that you never talk about money at the dinner table, even when my father-in-law dropped $2,000 on a grill last month. I tried bringing up splitting the cost for their upcoming vacation to Florida and got shut down fast. Has anyone else dealt with a family that refuses to discuss finances face to face?

So they'll drop 2 grand on a grill but can't talk about it? That's some next level denial right there.

Whoa, hold up, 2 grand on a grill and you can't even have a simple conversation about it? That's wild. You'd think if you're dropping that much cash on something, you'd at least be excited to brag about the features or the first cookout. It just sounds like they're avoiding something deeper, honestly.
