Vent: Finally told my dad I can't keep covering his truck payment, and he actually listened
My dad co-signed a loan on a 2018 F-150 back in 2022, lost his job 8 months later, and I quietly started paying the $485 every month so his credit wouldn't tank. This went on for 14 months and I never said a word, just transferred the money and stewed about it. Last Saturday we were sitting in his garage watching the Lions game and I just said it plain: I can't do this anymore, I'm drowning. He got quiet for a solid minute, which scared me, then he said he had no idea and thought I was just helping out here and there. We worked out a plan where he pays me back $100 a week starting in March and I keep the truck in my name until it's done. It was awkward for about 10 minutes and then we went back to the game. Has anyone else had a parent actually step up once you finally said the words out loud?

Did he actually set up the $100 autopay or is that on you to chase?
