The price list I put on the fridge finally ended the lawn mower guilt trips

My dad kept asking me to borrow my mower and then returning it with a half-empty tank. Last month I typed up a simple list of what gas and oil cost per use, about $4.50 each time, and taped it to the fridge in the garage. He saw it, laughed, and now he just hands me cash without me saying a word. Has anyone else found that putting a number in writing works better than trying to talk it out?

Ugh, is it REALLY that deep? Your dad borrowing a mower and not filling the tank is annoying, sure, but $4.50 a pop sounds like a pretty cheap price for keeping the peace. Honestly, a typed list feels a little passive aggressive, but hey, if it works, it works.
